Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, has been active on social media addressing various issues. On June 5, 2025, he posted several tweets that highlight his concerns about media coverage and accountability in educational institutions.

In a tweet from June 5, 2025, Gooden stated that “Homicides are down by 20%. Egg prices are down by 61%. Illegal border crossings are down by 91%.” He expressed dissatisfaction with the mainstream media’s lack of attention to these statistics.

Later the same day, Gooden criticized Brown University for allegedly silencing a student who questioned tuition fees while ignoring other significant issues. He tweeted: “.@BrownUniversity silences Alex Shieh for questioning sky-high tuition, yet ignores antisemitism and Hamas sympathizers on campus.” Gooden called this a “double standard” prevalent at elite institutions and demanded accountability.

In another post on June 5, Gooden compared actions taken by former President Donald Trump and the Biden Administration regarding national security. He remarked: “President @realDonaldTrump issued a travel ban. The Biden Administration let illegal alien terrorists into America.” He questioned which of these actions received more outrage from the mainstream media.

Gooden has been serving in Congress since succeeding Jeb Hensarling in 2019. Born in Nashville in 1982, he resides in Terrell and holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
