Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, has been vocal on social media about his views concerning recent civil unrest. Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and currently residing in Terrell, Gooden’s educational background includes a BA and BBA from the University of Texas, Austin.
On June 9, 2025, Gooden expressed his concern over individuals he referred to as “riot deniers,” stating that they “are a threat to our democracy!” This comment underscores his stance on those who downplay or deny the severity of riots.
Later that day, he criticized the terminology used to describe participants in such events. He urged against calling them “demonstrators” and “protesters,” instead labeling them as “low life rioters and looters” who should be prosecuted “to the fullest extent of the law.”
In another post on June 9, Gooden accused Democrats of misleading the public by denying the existence of riots. He quoted phrases such as “Not a real riot,” and argued that Democrats “don’t want the American people to believe their own eyes.”
Gooden’s statements reflect his firm position on law enforcement and accountability regarding civil disturbances.
