Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, recently took to social media to share his perspectives on several issues. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019, has been vocal about his stances on various topics.
On June 7, 2025, Gooden commented on social unrest, stating “Radical leftists are rioting over the detention of dangerous criminal illegal aliens. Summer of love 2.0.” This tweet reflects his views on the actions surrounding immigration enforcement and public demonstrations.
Later that same day, Gooden addressed issues concerning sports competitions and gender identity. He tweeted that “Female athletes have lost at least 900 medals to transgender competitors.” He also noted that “206 House Democrats voted against legislation banning men from competing in women’s sports.”
In another post dated June 8, 2025, Gooden expressed condolences over the death of a military serviceman. He wrote “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sgt. Aaron Fox, a courageous young man from Mabank who served in the U.S. Army overseas in Hungary.” He praised Sgt. Fox’s service by stating that he “exemplified the very best of America,” highlighting his gratitude for Fox’s dedication.
Lance Gooden was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and currently resides in Terrell. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with degrees earned in both BA (2001) and BBA (2004), he continues to serve his district with ongoing engagement in national conversations through various platforms.
