Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district, has shared his perspectives on various political issues through recent tweets. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling in 2019 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, continues to voice his opinions on national matters.
On June 1, 2025, Lance Gooden tweeted about a tragic incident involving the death of Kaitlyn Weaver. He stated, “An illegal alien killed 24-year-old Kaitlyn Weaver. The Democrat DA spared the illegal jail time. Trump’s DHS arrested him last week. The days of putting illegal aliens over American citizens are over.”
Later that day, Gooden commented on judicial actions concerning tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump. He remarked, “Funny how activist judges only attempt to block President @realdonaldTrump’s Liberation Day tariffs. Where were they when Biden, Obama, Bush, and Clinton imposed tariffs?” This statement reflects his criticism of perceived inconsistencies in judicial responses to presidential policies.
In another tweet from June 1st, Gooden expressed skepticism about political tolerance on the left side of the spectrum by stating simply: “The ‘Tolerant Left’ isn’t very tolerant.”
Lance Gooden was born in Nashville in 1982 and resides in Terrell. He is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin with degrees earned in 2001 and 2004.
