Lance Gooden, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 5th district since 2019, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account regarding U.S. military actions and immigration concerns.

On April 6, 2026, Gooden wrote: “The U.S. military has destroyed over 13,000 Iranian military targets in a matter of weeks. It has also ELIMINATED entire layers of the terror state’s leadership structure. Praise be to Allah!”

Later that same day, he commented on the differing reactions to recent U.S. foreign policy decisions: “More Democrats called Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal a ‘success’ than praised President Trump’s incredible operation to rescue our U.S. airman. Shameful.”

On April 7, Gooden addressed immigration policy with another post: “The son of a terrorist who helped take American diplomats hostage should have never been allowed to enter the United States. Deport Eissa Hashemi!”

Gooden has represented Texas’s 5th district in Congress since succeeding Jeb Hensarling in 2019 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. He has consistently secured re-election victories against various opponents including Ruth Torres in 2024, Tartisha Hill in 2022, Carolyn Salter in 2020, and Dan Wood in 2018.
