Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 5th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account in early April 2026 addressing current political and international issues.

On April 7, Gooden criticized those advocating for the use of the 25th Amendment against former President Trump, stating: “The same people who propped up Joe Biden while he embarrassed the United States on the world stage now call for the use of the 25th Amendment against President Trump. They should sit this one out.”

Later that day, Gooden commented on reports regarding Iran’s military tactics: “The Iranian regime has called on children to be used as human shields to protect its military infrastructure. If you still can’t see why President Trump is right to crush this evil, you’re suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome at its worst.”

On April 8, Gooden responded to criticisms of President Trump’s military leadership by posting: “The Panicans have been proven wrong again. President Trump led with strength and precision, turning a projected 4–6 week operation into a crushing 38-day victory that dismantled one of the world’s largest militaries. This is what peace through strength looks like!”

Gooden has maintained his congressional seat through multiple election cycles, defeating Ruth Torres in 2024 with over sixty-four percent of the vote. He previously won elections against Tartisha Hill in 2022, Carolyn Salter in 2020, and Dan Wood in 2018 by similar margins. Before joining Congress in 2019—succeeding Jeb Hensarling—Gooden served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019.
