Lance Gooden, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 5th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on his social media account criticizing Democratic Party priorities and commenting on U.S. foreign relations.
On March 21, 2026, Gooden listed several measures he said Democrats opposed in Congress: “Here’s what Democrats voted against this week:
– Deporting animal abusers
– Reopening DHS
– Paying TSA agents
– Deporting fraudsters
– Your right to hunt & fish
The priorities of Democrats are clear, and it’s not the American people.”
Continuing his criticism the following day, Gooden questioned Democratic intentions regarding voting rights for non-citizens. On March 22, 2026, he wrote: “If Democrats do not want illegal aliens to vote, why did New York City try to give 800,000 of them the right to vote in 2021?
We all know illegal alien voting is the Democrat Party’s end goal.
Pass the Save America Act!”
Later that same day, Gooden commented on international affairs and praised recent developments in U.S.-Japan relations: “The U.S.-Japan alliance has NEVER been stronger.
From energy and defense to major Japanese investment in the United States, President Trump and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi are delivering for both nations.
Japan is BACK thanks to @takaichi_sanae!”
Gooden has represented Texas’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Jeb Hensarling in 2019. He previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. In recent election cycles, Gooden secured victories over Ruth Torres (2024), Tartisha Hill (2022), Carolyn Salter (2020), and Dan Wood (2018), each time winning with more than sixty percent of the vote.
