Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 5th district since 2019, posted several statements on March 29, 2026, addressing political opposition and national leadership. In his posts, Gooden criticized what he described as selective activism and highlighted policy priorities under the Trump Administration.
On March 29, 2026, Gooden questioned the consistency of protest movements in the United States by stating: “The ‘No Kings’ crowd said nothing when our country was run by an autopen, Joe Biden’s top political opponent was jailed, vaccines were mandated, small businesses and schools were forced to shut down, Americans were censored on social media, and the FBI targeted school parents and”.
Later that day, Gooden emphasized American leadership in technology through a reference to the Trump Administration’s policies: “America leads or America loses. It is that simple.
The Trump Administration’s Genesis Mission unleashes American innovation in AI, energy, and next generation technology.
This is how the United States will continue to LEAD the world!” (March 29, 2026).
In another post from March 29, Gooden criticized Democratic lawmakers for their participation in protests while alleging neglect of key security agencies: “Democrats found time to attend ‘No Kings’ protests, but refused for more than 40 days to fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard.
They would rather appease the radical left than keep the American people safe.”
Gooden has served in Congress since replacing Jeb Hensarling in 2019. Prior to his tenure in Congress representing Texas’s 5th District—a position he has held since 2019—he served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. In recent elections for Texas’s 5th district seat in Congress he defeated Ruth Torres (2024), Tartisha Hill (2022), Carolyn Salter (2020), and Dan Wood (2018), consistently securing over sixty percent of votes cast.
