Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman who has won consecutive general elections since 2018, used his Twitter account in early January 2026 to comment on Democratic politicians’ stances and international protests.
On January 4, 2026, Gooden posted about Senator Mark Warner’s remarks regarding Venezuela, stating: “Democrat Mark Warner last year:
‘[The Biden Administration] didn’t put enough pressure on getting [Nicolas Maduro] out.’
Democrat Mark Warner now:
Complains that President Trump got Maduro out.” He included links to support his statements.
The following day, January 5, Gooden referenced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s comments on Trump supporters. In the tweet he wrote: “Tim Walz on Trump supporters:
‘I think I can kick most of their ass.’
Reality:
Drops out of the governor’s race after a 23-year-old Trump supporter exposes him as a fraud.”
Later that same day, Gooden commented on recent events in Iran and protests in the United States. He tweeted: “10 protesters have been killed by Iran’s regime for demanding freedom.
American liberals have taken to the streets not for them, but to defend a Venezuelan dictator.
Think about that for a moment.”
Lance Gooden has represented Texas in Congress since winning his first election in 2018. In the most recent contest held in 2024, he defeated Ruth Torres with over sixty-four percent of the vote. His previous electoral victories include wins against Tartisha Hill in 2022 and Carolyn Salter in 2020—each time securing more than sixty percent of votes—and Dan Wood in 2018 with similar margins.
