Lance Gooden, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 5th district, has posted a series of tweets criticizing Democratic leaders and policies regarding law enforcement and voting. The tweets were published on February 9 and 10, 2026.
On February 9, Gooden addressed the response to alleged comments by Gene Wu: “Days have passed, and not a single Democrat has condemned Gene Wu’s racist comments. This tells you everything you need to know.”
The following day, he commented on perceived double standards in the treatment of federal agents: “When you walk into an airport, signs say verbal abuse against TSA agents will NOT be tolerated. Why isn’t the same standard applied to ICE agents? Instead, Democrats ENCOURAGE verbal abuse!” (February 10).
Later that day, Gooden referenced remarks attributed to California Governor Gavin Newsom regarding voting participation and immigration enforcement: “Never forget when Gavin Newsom said the quiet part out loud, admitting that illegal aliens vote. ‘Do you think ICE is not gonna show up around voting and polling booths to chill participation?’ This is why Democrats are against the SAVE America Act.” (February 10).
Gooden has served in Congress since replacing Jeb Hensarling in 2019 and previously held office in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. He has maintained strong electoral support over multiple election cycles; most recently in 2024 he won re-election with over sixty percent of the vote against Ruth Torres.
