Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman who has consistently won re-election since 2018, recently used his social media platform to criticize both the mainstream media and government officials in a series of posts made on December 3 and 4, 2025.

On December 3, Gooden alleged significant theft of public funds in Minnesota, writing, “Over $1 billion in tax dollars have been stolen by Somalians in Minnesota. MSNBC: Zero headline news coverage CBS News: Zero headline news coverage ABC News: Zero headline news coverage Imagine what they’d cover up if Tim Walz became vice president.” He expressed concern over what he perceives as selective reporting by major networks regarding this issue.

Later that day, Gooden addressed perceived bias in holiday-related media coverage. In a post dated December 3, he stated, “Kamala Harris: ‘How dare we speak Merry Christmas!’ Mainstream media: ‘Melania Trump Makes Christmas Spooky Again’ You can’t despise the fake news enough.”

The following morning, Gooden called for legal accountability for Jack Smith. On December 4, he posted, “Jack Smith is not above the law. His actions were WORSE than Watergate. The American people deserve answers. Jack must appear before the House Judiciary Committee and answer every question, every detail, no exceptions.”

Gooden’s comments come as he maintains a strong electoral record; he defeated Ruth Torres in the 2024 general election with over 64% of the vote. In previous cycles—2022 against Tartisha Hill (64%), 2020 against Carolyn Salter (62%), and 2018 against Dan Wood (62.3%)—he secured decisive victories each time.
