Lance Gooden, U.S. Congressman and recent winner of the 2024 general election against Ruth Torres, used his social media platform on September 19 and 20, 2025, to criticize NPR, denounce Antifa, and accuse Democrats of misplaced priorities.

On September 19, Gooden posted about NPR’s coverage of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. He wrote: “NPR is making excuses for the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk. Add this to the long list of why we defunded this left-wing, fake news outlet.”

Later that day, he addressed Antifa in a separate post: “Antifa terrorists in their own words: ‘No border, no wall, no USA at all.’ President @realDonaldTrump made the right call to designate this radical left-wing group as a terrorist organization!”

On September 20, Gooden turned his attention to congressional Democrats. He stated: “Democrats said NO to: Military paychecks Rural healthcare Disaster relief Basic government funding But YES to taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens. Democrats made their priorities clear in one vote.”

Gooden has consistently secured electoral victories since first being elected in 2018. In the most recent election cycle in 2024, he defeated Ruth Torres with over 64% of the vote. This pattern mirrors his prior wins against Tartisha Hill in 2022 (64%), Carolyn Salter in 2020 (62%), and Dan Wood in 2018 (62.3%).
