Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, recently shared his views on social media regarding ongoing protests and law enforcement issues. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling in Congress and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, expressed his concerns through a series of tweets.
On June 8, 2025, Gooden commented on the activities of protestors in Los Angeles. He remarked that “The Los Angeles insurrectionists wave the Mexican flag while rioting over deportations. Make it make sense.” This statement reflects his criticism of protestors’ actions amidst deportation-related unrest.
Later that day, at 20:53 UTC, Gooden took to Twitter again to express his skepticism about how Democrats characterize certain protests. He stated: “A peaceful protest according to Democrats: – Assaulting law enforcement – Setting fires – Damaging vehicles – Blocking streets – Resisting arrest Democrats hate the rule of law.” This tweet highlights his belief that such actions contradict the principles of lawful assembly.
In another post made at 23:01 UTC on June 8, Gooden urged for immediate action against individuals depicted in a photograph he shared. He tweeted: “Everyone in this picture should be found and arrested. Tonight.” His call for accountability underscores his stance on maintaining order and upholding legal consequences for unlawful behavior.
Gooden was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and currently resides in Terrell. He is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin where he earned both a BA and BBA by 2004.
