Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district, recently shared his views on social media regarding economic indicators and political figures. Gooden, who has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Jeb Hensarling, provided commentary on the latest economic reports and criticized Democratic leaders.
On June 6, 2025, Gooden noted the positive developments in the economy by stating “May jobs report beat expectations – Inflation continues to cool – Wages are on the rise Joe Biden broke the economy. President @realDonaldTrump is fixing it.” This tweet reflects his perspective that former President Donald Trump is addressing issues he attributes to President Joe Biden’s administration.
Later that day, Gooden addressed remarks made by several city mayors regarding ICE agents. He stated “Boston Mayor Wu compared ICE agents to Neo-Nazis. Nashville Mayor O’Connell doxxed ICE agents. Chicago Mayor Johnson likened ICE agents to terrorists. Just when you think Democrats can’t go any lower, they do.” This tweet suggests his disapproval of the mayors’ comments about immigration enforcement officers.
On June 7, 2025, Gooden commented on an indictment involving Kilmar Abrego Garcia by highlighting its serious nature: “The details in Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s indictment are horrific: Over 100 trips transporting women, children, and MS-13 terrorists across America. This is who Democrats were sipping margaritas with.” Here he implies criticism of certain Democratic associations or actions.
Gooden has been active in politics since serving in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019 before moving to Congress. Born in Nashville and residing in Terrell, he holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
