Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, recently shared his thoughts on economic and legislative matters through a series of tweets. Gooden’s statements reflect his support for what he refers to as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which he believes will have significant impacts on the American economy and immigration policy.
On July 3, 2025, Lance Gooden expressed optimism about the U.S. job market, stating that “The American economy SHATTERED job expectations in the month of June.” He noted that an additional 37,000 jobs were added beyond expectations and linked this success to the potential effects of the Big Beautiful Bill, which he anticipates will further boost economic growth and revitalize manufacturing.
Later that day, at 15:36 UTC, Gooden turned his attention to border security. He credited President Trump with having secured the border within five months and called for Congressional action to fund mass deportations of illegal aliens deemed dangerous. Gooden argued that “the Big Beautiful Bill must get across the finish line” to facilitate these measures.
In a subsequent tweet at 16:29 UTC on July 3rd, Gooden outlined several promises made by President Trump that align with provisions in the Big Beautiful Bill. These include no tax on tips, funding for completing the border wall, and protecting Medicaid. Emphasizing these commitments, Gooden urged for legislative approval by saying “Let’s get this passed!”
Gooden has served in Congress since replacing Jeb Hensarling in 2019 and previously held office in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born in Nashville in 1982 and residing in Terrell, Texas, he holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
