Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district, has recently taken to social media to express his views on significant legislative and national issues. Gooden, who succeeded Jeb Hensarling in Congress in 2019 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, has been vocal about current developments concerning legislation and security.
On May 21, 2025, Lance Gooden tweeted about the efforts of House Republicans in passing President Donald Trump’s proposed legislation. He stated that “House Republicans are working around the clock to pass President @realdonaldTrump’s Big Beautiful Bill!” emphasizing that this “HISTORIC legislation” aims to provide tax cuts for Texans, secure borders permanently, offer relief for seniors, and eliminate waste and fraud.
The following day on May 22, he acknowledged President Trump’s role in advancing the bill by attributing its progress to Trump’s leadership. Gooden remarked that “The Big Beautiful Bill’s passage would not have happened without President @realdonaldTrump’s bold vision and strong leadership.”
In another tweet on May 22, Gooden addressed a violent incident in Washington D.C., calling for condemnation from all members of Congress. He wrote: “Every member of Congress must condemn the horrific and violent antisemitic attack in our nation’s capital last night.” He noted that two lives were lost due to an act described as one of hatred by a “pro-Palestinian lunatic,” affirming America’s support for Israel and the Jewish community.
Gooden was born in Nashville but now resides in Terrell; he holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
