Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, has been vocal on social media about various political issues. On May 21, 2025, he shared his perspectives on Medicaid fraud and gas prices under President Donald Trump’s administration.

In a tweet posted on May 21, Gooden criticized Democrats for opposing efforts to address waste in Medicaid. He stated: “For decades, Democrats have called for the elimination of waste, fraud, and abuse. Today, they oppose rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid for one reason only: Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Later that day, Gooden highlighted changes in gas prices over recent years. He noted the decrease from $4.60 in 2022 to $3.08 in 2025 as evidence of President Trump’s fulfilled promises: “Average Memorial Day Gas Price… Another promise made, promise kept from President @realDonaldTrump! “

Gooden also addressed fiscal policies regarding American citizens compared to illegal aliens. He argued that Democrats are willing to provide benefits to illegal aliens but resist tax cuts for Americans: “Democrats had no problem providing illegal aliens with free transportation… Pass President @realDonaldTrump’s Big Beautiful Bill!”

Lance Gooden was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and currently resides in Terrell. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees earned in 2001 and 2004.
