Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, has been vocal about his support for President Donald Trump’s policies through social media. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Gooden graduated from the University of Texas, Austin and currently resides in Terrell.
On May 19, 2025, Lance Gooden expressed his criticism towards Democrats by asserting that they oppose economic progress brought about by President Trump’s initiatives. He stated on Twitter: “Let it be known that Democrats are against: Millions of new jobs Higher wages and take-home pay Billions of dollars in investment President @realDonaldTrump’s Big Beautiful Bill delivers historic WINS for hardworking Americans.”
Later the same day, Gooden suggested that President Trump is more deserving of international recognition compared to former President Barack Obama. He tweeted: “Unlike Barack Obama, President @realDonaldTrump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.”
In another post on May 19, he detailed infrastructure goals related to border security under the proposed legislation. The tweet read: “→ Complete 701 miles of primary wall → Construct 900 miles of river barriers → Build 629 miles of secondary barriers → Replace 141 miles of vehicle & pedestrian barriers The Big Beautiful Bill will deliver the resources to secure our southern border once and for all!”
Lance Gooden has held public office since his time in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019 before joining Congress. His educational background includes a BA and BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
