Lance Gooden, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 5th district, has been vocal on social media regarding various political issues. His recent tweets cover topics ranging from domestic protests to international relations.
On June 11, 2025, Gooden questioned California Governor Gavin Newsom about the nature of protests. He posed three questions: “Three questions Gavin Newsom can’t answer: 1. If the protests were peaceful, how were law enforcement officers injured? 2. If the protests were peaceful, how were cars burned? 3. If the protests were peaceful, how were businesses looted?”
The following day, June 12, he commented on sanctuary states and their response to immigration policies by Texas. Gooden stated: “Never forget: Sanctuary states loved calling themselves sanctuaries until Texas started busing illegal aliens to them.”
On June 13, Gooden expressed support for Israel in its defense against Iran and warned against threats to American troops in the region. He tweeted: “America stands with Israel, and it has every right to defend itself against the world’s largest state sponsor of terror. Our message to Iran is simple: Any threats to American troops in the region will face swift and severe consequences.”
Lance Gooden has served in Congress since replacing Jeb Hensarling in 2019 and previously held office in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017-2019. Born in Nashville and residing in Terrell, he holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
