Lance Gooden, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 5th district since 2019, recently expressed his views on social media regarding various political issues. Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 and currently residing in Terrell, Gooden has been an active voice in Congress following his previous tenure in the Texas House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019.

On June 2, 2025, Gooden tweeted about gender participation in sports. He stated that “Men belong in MEN’S sports. Women belong in WOMEN’S sports.” He further commented that schools defying President Donald Trump’s executive order should face financial repercussions by losing federal tax dollars.

Later that day, Gooden addressed concerns about national security and immigration policies. In a tweet posted at 15:30 UTC, he remarked that “The Boulder terror suspect isn’t the only illegal alien terrorist in the United States.” He urged the Senate to pass President Trump’s legislative proposal to enhance deportation efforts.

In another post made at 19:44 UTC on the same day, Gooden credited President Trump’s border policies for a significant decrease in drug seizures along the border. He asserted that “There’s one reason for the historic drop in fentanyl seizures along the border,” attributing it to Trump’s “strong border policies.”

Gooden’s educational background includes a BA and BBA from the University of Texas at Austin, obtained in 2001 and 2004 respectively.
