Niko Parks, project manager with Broaddus & Associates, provided an update on the Sheriff’s Office remodel project on Mar. 17.

The progress of the remodel is significant for the community as it impacts local law enforcement operations and public safety services. The update comes at a time when Rockwall County is experiencing changes in its student population and demographics.

According to the Texas Education Agency, the number of at-risk students in Rockwall County increased by 3.4% during the 2023-24 school year, reaching a total of 7,777 students (source). Additionally, Rockwall County schools ranked 48th highest in Texas for total at-risk student enrollment during that same period (source).

Demographic data from the Texas Education Agency shows that white students made up the largest ethnic group in Rockwall County schools during the 2023-24 school year, totaling 12,123 students or 51.7% of the student body. Hispanic students were the second largest group with 6,172 students, representing 26.3% of all students (source).
