The county is looking to fill roles that involve the operation of heavy construction equipment to maintain, repair, and construct local roads, bridges, drainage systems, and rights-of-way. The Motor Grader Operator position requires experience in handling heavy machinery with a focus on safety. Responsibilities include laying asphalt, grading surfaces, maintaining street signs, hauling materials, and supporting all phases of road and bridge maintenance.
Operator A and B positions are responsible for right-of-way maintenance and ensuring proper ditch drainage throughout Rockwall County. Duties include operating bulldozers, graders, asphalt paving equipment, backhoes, hauling materials for roadwork projects such as installing culverts or grading ditches, servicing street signs, trimming trees, mowing areas prone to erosion, and other assigned tasks. The level of operator role will depend on the applicant’s qualifications. Employees in this department work four 10-hour shifts from Monday through Thursday.
