Rockwall County officials announced on Apr. 30 that a Law Enforcement Police Memorial Service will be held on May 14 at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. The event is scheduled for 9:00 AM and aims to honor law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The memorial service provides an opportunity for the community to come together and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting others. Organizers said the names of Texas law enforcement officers lost since the last memorial will be read aloud, allowing attendees to reflect on their dedication and impact.
“We warmly invite you to join us for the Rockwall County Law Enforcement Police Memorial Service on May 14th at 9:00 AM at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. This gathering offers us a heartfelt opportunity to honor and remember the courageous law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Together, we will read the names of the Texas law enforcement officers we have lost since our last memorial, reflecting on their dedication and the profound impact they have made in our lives and communities. Your presence would mean so much as we pay tribute to these heroes,” organizers said.
Recent data show that during the 2023-24 school year, Rockwall County saw a rise of 3.4% in its number of at-risk students, totaling 7,777 students according to the Texas Education Agency. In addition, local schools ranked as having the forty-eighth highest total enrollment of at-risk students statewide during this period according to state data.
Demographic figures from that same school year indicate that white students were Rockwall County’s largest ethnic group with 12,123 students (51.7% of enrollment), followed by Hispanic students with 6,172 (26.3%) according to information from education authorities.
The upcoming ceremony underscores ongoing efforts by local leaders and residents alike to recognize public service contributions amid broader changes within area schools.
