The majority of Americans support school choice and scholarship programs that help send children to schools other than a local public school, Center Square reports.
Because of the overwhelming majority supporting school choice, more than 51,300 events and activities are being scheduled during National School Choice Week, according to the news agency.
“The week is inclusive, positive and welcoming, with the goal of raising awareness of all education options (traditional, public, charter, magnet, online, private and homeschooling) so that families can find schools and learning environments that best meet the needs of their children,” the school choice effort told the news agency.
The effort told the news agency that in Texas, families can choose from homeschooling, public magnet schools, private schools, public charter schools, public schools and online academies.
There have been more than 131,000 school choice events since 2011, according to the news agency.
