While Texas restaurants and bars were permitted to reopen at a reduced capacity this month, some Lower Greenville establishments didn't make it through the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Dallas Morning News reports that many places of business have permanently closed their doors. The economic strain caused by the coronavirus crisis was too much to handle.
Lower Greenville was hit extraordinarily hard during the shutdown. According to the report, a gastropub that opened in 2018, Laurel Tavern, has closed its doors permanently.
Eastside Social, which is a neighborhood bar that opened last year, and Wah Wah Room, which was converted from a recording studio from the 1970s, also called it quits.
The Foundry, a bar known for particularly great free live music, has closed forever.
Chicken Scratch also shut down for good. The owner of Chicken Scratch, Christopher Zielke, told The Dallas Morning News that “it was a fun ride,” but Chicken Scratch “couldn’t survive a lost spring.”
