Two Principals Named to New Campuses

Rockwall ISD is grateful for our campus principals and leadership teams. Two schools will have proven principals at the helm entering the 2022-2023 school year.

Today Mrs. Kelli Crossland, principal of Rochell Elementary, has been named the principal of Hays Elementary. She fills the vacancy left by Mrs. Tammi Schmitt, who resigned to accept a leadership position at Region 10. Mrs. Crossland brings five years of campus leadership experience to the Hays family. Rochell ES has benefitted from her vision of high expectations and instructional support systems. She is also familiar with the Hays feeder pattern having prior service at Williams Middle School for 12 years. Kelli has personal ties with Hays as the Crossland children attended the school.

Another experienced campus leader, Mrs. Lindy Lewis, principal of Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School, will take her expertise to Rochell Elementary School and fill the vacancy left by Mrs. Crossland. Mrs. Lewis was principal at APHE for two years with prior assistant principal service at Jones and Hays Elementary, where she was part of successful administrative teams. Her work as a campus administrator leading a high-achieving campus like APHE and Jones ES ensures the continuation of academic success at Rochell ES as they serve students and families. Lindy began her career in Rockwall ISD as a teacher at Rochell Elementary School, where she served for nine years.

Currently, the District is completing the principal search for Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary School principal, left vacant by the promotion of Dr. Mary Pugh to Executive Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. The District will also focus on selecting a principal to fill the vacancy at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School soon.
