Burch, Phaithuncharoensuk named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

Texas A&M University-Commerce men's golf student-athletes Zach Burch and Kittiphong Phaithuncharoensuk are named Srixon/Cleveland Golf NCAA Division II All-America Scholars, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Thursday.

 

Burch (Lubbock – Cooper) recently graduated from A&M-Commerce with his degree in engineering. He been named to the president's list, made the dean's list six times, and selected on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll five times. On the course, he was part of three NCAA Regional trips and finished his career with 36 rounds of par or better, which are best in program history since 1993-94 and his scoring average of 73.98 is sixth.

 

Phaithuncharoensuk (Phuket, Thailand) is a junior majoring in sport & recreation management. He was honored as an All-American on the course this season, while being named the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year and a first team all-conference selection. He is a president's list and dean's list recipient.

 

The duo is the first scholar All-American for the Lions since Wilfredo Sanchez in 2018. 174 student-athletes from NCAA Division II were honored as All-America Scholars this year.

 

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA.

 

In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
