The Cornell volleyball team was honored with a United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award it was announced this week. The achievement comes to teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or better.
The Big Red was among 215 Division I teams to take home the honor and 1,213 squads at all levels from high school to all college divisions, including beach volleyball. It's the fourth time in the past five seasons under Trudy Vande Berg, the Wendy Schaenen '79 Head Coach of Cornell Volleyball, that the Big Red has been honored.
The 2022 Big Red will kick off its season on Friday, Sept. 2 when it meets Oakland University in match one of the Kent State Invitational.
