The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team renews their rivalry at Tarleton on Tuesday and returns home to hosts Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday and Northwestern State on Saturday, closing the first half of Southland Conference play.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE LIONS
Last week, A&M-Commerce made its first trip to Louisiana for matches against New Orleans and Nicholls. In the first match, the Lions took the Privateers to four sets with a 25-15 win in the second. The Lions fell 3-1 with set scores of 25-18 in the first, 25-22 in the third, and 25-23 for the final set. After falling to the Privateers on Thursday night, the Lions downed the Colonels, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon with set scores of 22-25, 25-15, 29-27, and 25-22. With this win, the Lions improve to 6-14 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE LIONS
The Lions compete at Lamar on Thursday, October 20, and return home to host McNeese on Saturday, October 22, kicking off the second half of conference play.

LIONS SWEEP PANTHERS FOR FIRST DIVISION I WIN
A&M-Commerce picked up its first win in the Division I era on September 6, at Prairie View A&M in three sets. This win also snapped a six-match losing streak to start the season and it was A&M-Commerce's first win over a Division I opponent in athletic department history.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
There have been many matches played between the Texans and the Lions. The Lions defeated the Texans, 3-1, in 2018 to win their first conference tournament title in 31 years in Stephenville. The Lions historic 2018 season came to an end after falling to the Texans in the NCAA Division II Regional Final. In October of 2019 was the last match played against Tarleton before its move to Division I, where the Lions defeated the Texans, 3-1. In her 18th season with the Texans, is Mary Schindler, the winningest coach in program history with a career record of 345-196 with 13 straight winning seasons. The Texans are currently 10-10 overall and 2-4 in Western Athletic Conference play with an RPI of 186.
Jeremy White is going into his fourth season as the head coach of Southeastern. Cicily Hidaldo was named the conference freshman of the year. Her and Karlee Wilkerson were all-conference selections last year. This season, the Lady Lions are currently 15-4 overall on the season and 5-2 in conference matches, falling 3-0 to Houston Christian and New Orleans. Their RPI is 174, which puts them at the top in the SLC.
Sean Kiracofe is going into his eighth season at Northwestern State, becoming the longest tenured coach in program history in 2022. In 2021, Symone Wesley totaled more than 300 digs and nearly matched that in kills with 292 for the season. That season, she was the only player to rank in top 10 in both kills/set and digs/set. This season, the Lady Demons are 11-7 overall and 4-3 in conference matches and rated 266 in the RPI, which is fifth best in the SLC.
