Lions win six events at Colorado Invitational | https://images.sidearmdev.com/
Six events wins on Friday highlighted a strong performance for the Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field teams at the Colorado Invitational and the Lions also competed at the New Mexico Team Open in split-squad action.

COLORADO INVITATIONAL
The Lions won six events at the CU Indoor Practice Facility. Chandler King (Hughes Springs) won the men's long jump, Amaka Ezukanma (Timber Creek) placed first in the women's triple jump, Delan Edwin (Castries, Saint Lucia) won the men's 60 meter dash, Sofia Khenfar (Lyon, France) completed the sweep for the Lions in the 60 meter dash with a win on the women's side.
Ibrahim Fusieni (Accra, Ghana) had the top time in the men's 200 meter dash and the Lion quartet of Ziphion Reevey (Ocean Township, N.J.), Philip Krenek (Kostelní Strimelice, Czech Republic), Conner Stockerl (The Woodlands), and Edwin closed out the meet with a win in the men's 4x400 meter relay.
King jumped 23 feet 2.5 inches (7.07m) in his final attempt to take the long jump crown. Trayveon Franklin (Montgomery) took third with a mark of 21 feet 11.5 inches (6.69m).
On the women's side, Céleste Sela (Mont de Marsan, France) placed second in the long jump with a mark of 18 feet 4.5 inches (5.60m), Ezukanma finished third with a jump of 16 feet 10 inches (5.13m), and Dejah Fuller (Waxahachie Life) leapt 16 feet 7.75 inches (5.07m) for fourth place.
Ezukanma won the triple jump with a mark of 38 feet 1.5 inches (11.62m), while Fuller finished second with a mark of 36 feet 3.5 inches (11.06m).
Over on the track, the Lion men went 1-2-3 in the men's 60 meter dash. Edwin timed 6.70 seconds to win the race, followed by Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) taking second in the finals with a time of 6.73 seconds, and J.T. Smith (Klein Oak) timing 6.77 seconds for third place.
Edwin's time of 6.70 seconds is now third in the Southland Conference, climbing a spot in the conference leaderboard.
Khenfar and Leah Pettis (McKinney North) both timed 7.60 seconds in the women's 60 meter dash. Khenfar's time was 7.599 seconds, compared to 7.600 for Pettis, which give Khenfar the slight edge. Khenfar stays at fourth in the Southland with her personal-best time, while Pettis climbs from 16th to now tied for fourth.
In the men's 400 meter dash, Krenek ran a time for 47.97 seconds for fourth place, while Reevey timed 48.84 seconds for sixth place. Naomi Ndukwe (Perserville, France) clocked in a time of 56.53 seconds for third place in the women's 400 meter dash.
The Lion men went 1-2 in the 200 meter dash as well. Fuseini had a time of 21.32 seconds and Smith followed with a time of 21.34 seconds for second place. Pettis placed second on the women's side with a time of 24.30 seconds and Bre'Anna Lacy (Waxahachie Life) had a time of 25.50 seconds for eighth.
The quartet of Reevey, Krenek, Stockerl, and Edwin timed 3:13.19 in the men's 4x400 meter relay, winning the race by .07 seconds. The women's team of Ndukwe, Pettis, Lacy, and Khenfar had time of 3:58.04 for second place.
UNM TEAM OPEN
Tyke Owens (Lebanon Trail) cleared personal-best 6 feet 9 inches (2.06m) in the men's high jump, which was the top clearance mark among all competitors, but Owens took third based on tiebreakers. Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Gros Islet, Saint Lucia) cleared season-best 5 feet 5.25 inches (1.66m) in the high jump to take fifth place. Her mark is fourth in the conference.
On the track, Adrian Taylor (Cape Town, South Africa) timed 50.65 seconds for second place in the 400 meter dash, while Trey Wheeler (Scurry-Rosser) finished sixth with a time of 53.69 seconds. Elizabeth Ortiz (Palacios) had a time of 1:00.21 for sixth place on the women's side.
Action resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. mountain time at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
