Rockwall County officials announced on April 27 that all lanes of westbound Interstate 30 will be closed and detoured at FM 3549/Corporate Crossing from 9 p.m. Monday, April 27, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, with closures repeating the following night. The left lane of eastbound I-30 will also be closed during the same hours, and all lanes of north and southbound FM 3549/Corporate Crossing at I-30 will be closed and detoured.
The closures are part of an ongoing corridor improvement project. Drivers are advised to follow posted detours, plan for extra travel time, and remain alert for slower or stopped traffic.
These roadworks come as Rockwall County experiences changes in its school population. The number of at-risk students in Rockwall County increased by 3.4% during the 2023-24 school year, totaling 7,777 students according to the Texas Education Agency (source). During the same period, Rockwall County schools ranked as having the forty-eighth highest total at-risk student enrollment in Texas according to state data.
Demographic data from the Texas Education Agency shows that white students made up the largest ethnic group in Rockwall County schools during the current school year with a total of 12,123 students or about half (51.7%) of all students; Hispanic students were second largest with more than one quarter (26.3%) or about 6,172 students according to official figures.
The ongoing construction is expected to impact traffic patterns throughout these scheduled closures as local agencies continue infrastructure improvements.
